Ibanez guitars are stunning! Certainly you will first notice the superb wood finish or stylish paint job when you set eyes upon an Ibanez guitar or bass, but there’s much more to these superb guitars. They aren’t just good looks. When you pick up an Ibanez you get that first tactile sensation that will more than likely make you fall in love with it. And this is due to the superb quality and feel of the neck.
Many factors come into play to make a guitar neck feel the way it does. It’s not just the thickness. The size of the frets, the radius of the fingerboard, and the angle of the neck in relation to the guitar body all contribute to the feel. Not only that, each individual Ibanez is given a neck for several substantial reasons. The neck has to work with the wood type of the body. It has to work with the bridge spacing. And definitely they style of music the guitar is intended for will have an effect on the neck installed on that guitar. This is how the neck will wind up feeling the way it does and this of course applies to Ibanez bass guitars as well.
Ibanez spends a great deal of effort working with designers, signature artists and luthiers to get some of the most playable necks on the market today. The intent is to create unique and specialized guitar necks that are perfect for many styles of music. Also, a vast array of options is offered since the feel of a guitar neck is an intensely personal quality and there are many variations of guitar players.
Ibanez neck designs have improved through the years. Pick up an Ibanez electric guitar and you may see a three piece neck nowadays. For instance the Steve Vai signature guitars now have a 3 piece maple neck for added strength and rigidity. You can see a darker strip of maple in the center of the neck. This harder strip reduces warping and resists the wood’s natural tendency to twist. This is but one example the continuing improvements on the necks and overall quality of Ibanez guitars and basses. Pick one up at an Ibanez dealer in your town and feel the difference.

I love the neck on my Iceman–some new Ibanezes have that neck too. The best Ibanez neck I ever played was on a Futura that unfortunately I couldn’t afford.

I am wondering if anyone can tell me if I can replace my wizard II neck on my 2008 RG370DX w/ somthing else ?? like an upgrade or should I stick w/ what is on it stock…I love the neck on it now..but it broke at the headstock..I dont know why they drill holes completely through the neck to install the lock-nut assembly. It underminds the strength of the neck..I know many people who have had the same thing happen to them..On my Jackson Dinky Reverse its just screwed in from the front,,which seems much more sensable. Anyway ,any advice is appreciated..Thanks, Drew
