It's another Joe Satriani guitar!. The 2400. Guitar Center has the lowest price around on these! Here are some of the features on this latest Satch signature model:

The first 24-fret neck (with compound radius) is Satch’s newest adventure in the JS guitar line.

The legendary Edge tremolo bridge for JS2400, always Joe's favorite in feel and tone.

While Joe’s favorite DiMarzio Pro-Track™ (H) neck pickup has warmth along with power, The Mo’ Joe™ (H) bridge pickup is all about tone and definition – its name says it all. It packs plenty of power but doesn’t sacrifice clarity or dynamics.

I have the earliest model (I think) the JS100. Wow! that was YEARS ago. These guitars are great to play. They are super light weight as well. Good tone too.

These are all the basic features of the JS series Ibanez:
* All models feature coil tapping on both neck and bridge pickups
* JSBDG, JS20TH, JS20S, JS1600, JS1200 and JS1000 are precision-made in Japan
* Select JS models feature high-pass filter on volume pot for maintaining highs at low volumes
* Multi-radius Prestige neck (on select models) is an exact digital rendering of Joe ’s favorite axe
* Edge III (JS100) offers the great feel of the original Edge trem but is lower profile for increased comfort
* JS1600PSV offers the stylistic and sonic alternative of a mahogany body with a fixed bridge and locking tuners
* JS1200L is the first left-handed Satriani signature model ever (L for left!)
* NEW JS2400 is first 24-fret modelJSBDG "Black Dog" The rumors were true – after years of calls from the legions of Satriani faithful, Ibanez was going to offer a collector's edition of Joe's storied "Black Dog" electric guitar.
* JS20TH & JS20S 20th Anniversary Models – 20 Years of Surfing with Satch – Ibanez is proud to feature the Joe Satriani 20th Anniversary signature models, dressed to kill with a special 3D inlay of the Silver Surfer (JS20TH) on the guitar’s body

Joe recently did an interview with Ibanez and he talked gear with them as well as touring and other stuff. Here's an excerpt of the interview:

Ibanez: Now, lets talk about gear a little bit. Which Ibanez guitars are you utilizing at the moment?
Joe: Aside from Chrome Boy? I'm looking at my guitar stand right now and I've got a new white JS1000 guitar on it, which sometimes I gravitate towards because of the color. When I really get tired of the stuff I've been playing, I go to a white guitar and I feel like I'm starting on a clean slate. I also dug up my old JS6 mahogany to use for slide guitar and the JS700 with the soap bar pickups, which I also use for slide guitar. I'm determined to push my slide playing into the next level, which means I really have to practice quite a bit. I've also been working with a Universe 7-string quite a bit. I'm determined to unlock the secret of setting it up so it responds a little more like the JS guitars. I plan to use it on it on some Playstation 2 tracks.

Ibanez: Well, maybe we need to build you a JS 7-string.
Joe: That's a good idea. That would help me out a lot.

Ibanez: What records have you been listening to lately?
Joe: The last couple of days, I've been listening to a record that my sister sent me. It's called Stone Rock Blues. It's a record that has all the old songs from which some of the most popular heavy rock songs were stolen or based off of.

Ibanez's SR Series has got to be one of the premiere bass guitars on the market today. This has been a 'go to' bass for so many years. My bass player in an early band I was in had an SR and it sounded awesome. Soundgear basses will continue to bust out the crushing grooves in all styles. I was playing heavy metal and it was more than capable in that regard. So here we are almost in 2010 and Ibanez is offering up an array of different SR Soundgear models. I especially like the neck-thru-body but they also have fretless and left-handed. These are great heavy metal basses and rock basses as well. The Ibanez company is known for making guitars that dominate the realm of heavy music.
Ibanez SR
The wood of these superb bass guitars is prominent in the design and look of these basses. 5 strings are the norm but you can even get a six string bass. Yeah! My old bass player had an Ibanez 5 string bass and it was handy to have that extra bottom sometimes. The SR's narrow neck is perfect for 5- and 6-strings. This gives great playability and physically comfortable to hold and play. Everyone who has ever desired a quality bass can afford an SR with pro features. They aren't that expensive. Great price , great quality Ibanez bass!!

The Ibanez SR series is a great line of bass guitars with many models to choose from. Notable models are the Ibanez SR600 Prestige bass with its lightweight ash body, rosewood fretboard, medium frets, Abalone oval inlay, Jatoba/Bubinga neck, & humbucking pickups. Ibanez SR750 with its classic 4 strings, mahogany and body/walnut top, Rosewood fingerboard and medium frets. The Ibanez SR4000E is a more expensive model. Its made in Japan and delivers balanced, clear tone. Mahogany body and 5-piece wenge/bubinga neck, easy to play, great dialed in tone.

The Ibanes SR Series on bass guitars are known for thinner necks with thinner nuts. They are lightweight, balanced, and have comfortable contoured bodies. The EXF angled pickups are set for equal spacing between pickup to string for balanced output levels. GSR models with high output pickups offer famous Soundgear pro comfort and playability. And super important is the reasonable pricing on these axes (yup cheap bass guitars). The are pro basses that the financially disadvantaged can take advantage of.

The popular Ibanez RG1570 is a six string axe known for a fast neck and metal style. These were originally produced in 1987. You can get it as a single or double coil pickup configuration. It's part of the Ibanez prestige family of guitars. And they are all manufactured in Japan.

This Ibanez electric is know for its use a metal axe by Gabriel Hidalgo of Six Magics, Stefano "Sebo" Xotta, Dexter Holland of The Offspring, Ed Faris of Adema, Flemming Lund of The Arcane Order, Everton Waldman of RT, Stephen Murphy of Universum, Terji Skibenæs of Týr, Terry Balsamo of Evanescence, Tony MacAlpine of Planet X, Bane Jelic, Cristi Gram of Phoenix, Lanvall of Edenbridge, Waldemar Sorychta, and I believe Herman Li of power metal shredders Dragonforce used it at one point. That's quite a roster.

This fine instrument has a reputation for being easy to play. It has a flat and thin neck profile and the neck is a five piece maple-mahogany laminated Wizard Prestige neck. The body of the guitar is made of basswood which is nice and light for the shoulders. A quality rosewood fretboard is also featured. And you can't go wrong with the Ibanez RG neck, the Wizard! The humbuckers can be used as single coil pickups for versatility in tone. The pickup selector also give many other tonal possibilities with its various positions. The neck pickup is a Vintage7 also called model 7. The middle is a model S1. Bridge pickup is Vintage 8. Here's a young guitarist demonstrating the tonal capabilities of the RG1570 and doing some fine shred soloing as well.

Guitarists of all ages rave about the Ibanez RG1570
"For the price it's a steal."
"This this will definately withstand live playing."
"The action is easier than I expected from a floating bridge with a locking nut."
"This guitar is fantastic."

The tremelo on this Ibanez guitar is also something worth mentioning. As Ibanez themselves state, "In the last two decades, no other guitar maker besides Ibanez has done so much to advance the art and science of the tremolo." You won't get an argument on that from most gtr players. What's also nice about their tremelo system is that there’s no need to cut off the ball end of your strings when installing new strings. That saves time. There are many Ibanes RG Prestige models and many different finishes.

The RG prestige RG1570 comes in two stock colors candy apple red and black. If you're into blue check out the RG770DX with its Laser Blue finish. And the RGT320Z with its Red Spinel quilted finished is striking. And the yellow poison pumpkin finish of the RG1550M is also quite interesting with the pickguard.

Each model has many feature variations besides just the color but the standard Ibanez RG series features include:
- made in Japan
- Super Wizard neck with an ultra-thin, ultra-flat Wizard 17mm neck dimensions
- Titanium reinforced necks on some models
- 6, 7 and 8 string models available
- Includes case

If you are interested in a new Ibanez RG, they are running a special rebate until Dec 31 09. If you purchase an Ibanez RG1570 Prestige guitar you can get a $100 rebate. Check out the details here. popular models include the Ibanez RG550, RG 350, RG 320, Ibanez rg 370, Ibanez rg 270.

If you are seeking a used Ibanez RG you can find tons of them here

PGM20TH Paul Gilbert 20th Anniversary Model
The PGM series is celebrating its 20th year! It's no surprise, given that Paul Gilbert has long been a master of the instrument and gained respect from musicians and fans all over the world. He has also long been respected as one of Ibanez's top endorsers, and it has been a true pleasure to have worked with such a talented guitar player for these 20 years. Take a look here.

MC30TH 30th Anniversary Musician Bass
This 2009 commemorative model of the MC bass is admittedly somewhat more expensive “than most working musicians could reasonably afford,” its hand craftsmanship, select woods, playability and tone make it well worth saving for the serious bassist or collector. This is really a beautiful bass guitar! Take a look at it! The wooden pickup covers are a nice touch.

Ibanez Ukuleles
For the first time ever, Ibanez has created a line of Ukuleles that meets the same high standards we use for all of our instruments. Available in Concert and Soprano style bodies with high quality finishes you expect from Ibanez. If you'd like to see these Ukuleles, go here. The UEW20SG is especially nice.

Ergobass

This bass is not only easy to look at, it's also easy to play. This bass guitar is designed specifically with ergonomics in mind. This is the 05Ric Extended Range Bass by Crimson Guitars. The main focus of the bass is playability and balance. In addition to the interesting shape of the guitar, the fact that it looks like it has no pickups makes it very peculiar. No it's not an acoustic bass. The pickup is hidden. Playing this thing must be a joy.

This one goes to 11

11 Strings!? Who needs that? Well looks like Jean Baudin does, and has a site filled with crazy 11 string bass guitars made by Conklin. Check it out here: www.jeanbaudin.com. I don't know about you, but I find these basses kind of intimidating.

Devil bass

Evil! It's supposed to look evil and it does. This is the Bass Devil 666 from ES Guitars (not ESP Guitars). They make some wicked handmade in the USA guitars. Made for metal is their slogan - heall yeah!

Muffler bass

What am I looking at here? A bass guitar or something that fell off a pickup truck? This is a homemade bass and not commercially available as far as I know so enjoy the pic.

Swiss army bass

Functionality is everything right? This 'Swiss army bass' lacks a bit in the looks department but shines as far as utility. Need to throw in a few keyboard swells - no problem! And you can play both at the same time, just use hammer ons.

An even more ergo ergobass

This thing is a real stunner! Reminds me of a piece of high end stereo equipment. This is the Xavier Padilla Custom electric bass guitar, built by Jerome Little of Little Guitar Works, and this is another design focused on ergonomics. Look closely at the neck, that's right it's twisted! It's called a Torzal Twisted Neck. I really wonder what it's like to play this one.

Space bass

Here's a fun little bass with a fun little name "The Space Bass". Looks like a star to me but hey, I guess its a space ship. This thing was released by Washburn Guitars. Its a replica of a Bootsy Collins bass and there were only 100 made. Funky!

The AK47

Ktone Workshop threw out the 'axe' and crafted the 'gun'! It's a machine gun bass and apparently a high quality professional instrument. A handcrafted Machine Gun AK-47 shape. Killer!

Back asswards

And finally just a plain stupid bass. Confusing huh? Someone's got a sense of humor. This bass doesn't know whether it's coming or going

Hey obsessed shredheads! Now you too can tear it up with the new Herman Li Signature Guitar from Ibanez. Its called the Egen13. This is essentially an Ibanez S series with Herman's custom modifications.

Its got some significant differences from a stock S series like 24 frets and a carved out body so you can reach them! It's also got custom Dimarzio pickups with pull switches for tweaking your own sound. It's got a mahogany body - nice! - and the body is even thinner than the S series. Ibanez calls it a shred machine for the next generation. it also has a handle sort of like the Steve Vai Ibanez Jem. Not very useful I imagine but a fun gimmick - hey we are talking about Dragonforce here, they aren't shy about employing 'extreme gimmickry'.

Pick up one of these shredding axes today and maybe someday you can have one of your songs on Guitar Hero! Or if you don't want to be on a video game, maybe you can just sound like one. ha ha!!

Now some people are just not into the new stuff. If you're throwback and you're into the old axes, check out some vintage electric guitars. I like them myself.

Here we go again. Another Badass Joe Satriani Ibanez! Ibanez has put out another sweet looking and i'm sure sweet sounding Joe Satriani signature model Ibanez. It is called the JSBDG "BLACK DOG" TRIBUTE Tell me this does not look awesome and bring you back to the early days of Satriani circa 'Flying in a Blue Dream'

From Ibanez :

The rumors were true. After years of calls from the legions of Satriani faithful, Ibanez was going to offer a collector’s edition of virtuoso rock guitarist Joe Satriani’s storied “Black Dog” electric guitar. And at the very last minute, the guitar was added to the Ibanez Booth display at the Summer 2008 NAMM musical instrument convention in Nashville.

The Ibanez JS “Black Dog” Tribute is a faithful recreation of Joe Satriani’s legendary late ‘80s/early ‘90s axe. Like Joe’s actual Black Dog, the recreation features the original pot locations and output jack style—different than the current Satriani signature model—as well as DiMarzio® PAF Pro® and Fred® pickups and the original Ibanez Edge tremolo system. In addition the JS neck and finish on the Tribute are treated by Ibanez’s most experienced luthiers.

But it’s the Black Dog finish that especially stands out: laboriously recreated by hand, one at a time, by just one highly skilled artist, are the drawings that Joe would apply to the original Black Dog body as the spirit moved him. Ibanez took photographs of the original Black Dog and used the shots to create a sort of “graphic map” that the Japanese artist uses to render with amazing exactitude Satriani’s original drawings.

The list price of the JSBDG is $7999.99, which includes many exclusive and special 20tth Anniversary items including an autographed copy of the Surfing with the Alien Legacy CD, a deluxe hardshell case, and exclusive Planet Waves Joe Satriani strap and Satriani Planet Waves signature picks by the respected D’Addario Co. Accessories are exclusive to the USA market.

The collector’s item guitar is reported to be limited to 100pcs worldwide with 60 of those destined for the United States.

Another thing guitar fans and Red Hot Chili Peppers fans may want to be on the lookout for is that John Frusciante, the guitarist of Peppers, has announced that he is will put out a solo album called "The Empyrean" in January 2009.
